Springtime in Indianapolis is a busy time for Berger Hargis Landscaping. It’s time to start putting away the snow shovels and getting the lawn mowers ready. We ramp up our supplies for weed and pest control, seeding, and spring clean-up. It’s time to dust off our drainage and erosion prevention equipment and start thinking about spring seasonal flower care. Springtime in Indianapolis is a fun time for Berger Hargis.
A Winter Story
My oldest granddaughter visited me on her 21st birthday. A few weeks earlier, she had sent me a text saying she wanted to come up from Gainesville, Florida, to have a beer with grandpa. Her boyfriend, a Florida native, came along. He had never seen snow. The three of us sat in my backyard and watched as flurries turned to flakes. Later we hiked along snow-covered paths at Eagle Creek Park. Her boyfriend was excited, my granddaughter was happy, and I had a great time. I hope they return to experience springtime in Indianapolis.
A Season of Change
After their visit, I wondered – when seasons are similar, like in warmer climates, does the change of seasons have much impact? I could be wrong because I don’t live in Florida. But at least for me, part of the joy of spring is the experience of winter. Do you know what I mean? Can we truly know the joy of spring without experiencing winter?
What Does Springtime in Indianapolis Mean to You?
For me, springtime in Indianapolis means gardening, hikes at Eagle Creek, time sitting in my backyard, or lying in my hammock looking at the woods as it transforms from a colorless gray and brown to a thousand hues of green. It also means things like the beginning of the racing season, baseball, and grilling over wood at my fire pit. And, of course, spring is the time of year when landscaping comes into full swing. No Time to Be Bored
Somebody once told me that if you can’t find anything to do in Indianapolis, you are boring. I agree, and this year I plan to expand my horizons and begin a few new springtime in Indianapolis rituals.
